Unquiet Jaali Bib- Terracotta
Crafted from interwoven cotton strips, this unisex bib draws inspiration from the 'Jharokas' and latticed screens found across India’s architectural landscapes. The woven grid-like surface echoes the geometry of traditional jaalis, creating shifting plays of light, shadow, visibility, and concealment across the body. Scattered wooden beads wrapped in threads in tones of rust and brown hold the structure together like points within an architectural lattice, while introducing warmth and softness to the otherwise rhythmic surface.
Made using fabric remnants and finished with complementary Kantha embroidery along the edges, the piece becomes an exploration of memory, materiality, and the spaces between exposure and protection.
